I'm a former licensed life and health agent and I get that crap all the time. For as much as it pains me to say it, this scheme is NOT related to AmEx, the only company I hate more than my ex-husband.

An, oh! Primerica!! "Pay us 40 gazillon bucks" and THEN we'll teach you to rope in others. Yep, that's the ticket.

My project where I'm currently at is up this week and I'm exploring options to keep the wheel barrel full until the academy starts (about 5-6 months).

I've got a couple of really strong leads still in IT but this sounded different and I thought I'd check it out. BUT.....if it's as TBS suggests a kind of Amway of the financial world, then they're gonna get a EARFUL from me. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Save your breath and energy, Jump. They're all shysters and won't believe you anyway. I seriously entertained thoughts of turning them in to ODI (Ohio Department of Insurance). But ODI is as useless as any other state agency.

You probably missed it, but some dude in Nigeria emailed me. All he needs is a way to get to $55 million out of the country and 1/3 of it is MINE!! ALL MINE!!!! I'll share if you'll just give me your bank account number. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Actually there is a whole website dedicated to stringing these scams along. I forget what they're called but I think it's called like a 519 scam or something. I'll have to try and find it.

A lot of people make a sport out of playing their game!

On a related note, jumper, now that the Big Sexy is a student at UC, his resume is online. The Big Sexy is not looking for a job (THEY look for the Big Sexy), but they asked for it, so the Big Sexy sent it.

Now the Big Sexy's getting emails from Banker's Trust - a life insurance company, promising all sorts of moulah. They have nothing to do with Th Big Sexy's considerable talents.

Turns out Bankers Trust is a sub of Conseco (can you say bankruptcy?) and has a substandard financial strength rating in the BBB range.

TBS, got an email in my inbox a few days ago from Ameriprise Financial....text as follows:

Dear Kip,

I recently reviewed your resume on CareerBuilder and I am interested in scheduling you for an information session and first interview with Ameriprise Financial -- the next generation of American Express Financial Advisors. Ameriprise is currently seeking individuals to work in our recently expanded Cincinnati office. We are hiring for Personal Financial Advisors with a potential Fast Track to Management. This position does not require past experience in the financial services industry. The job does require initiative, hard work, self-discipline, and an entrepreneurial orientation.



Questions:

1. What kind of bullshit setup is this?
2. Have you ever heard of this company?
3. Is this probably going to require me to "Sell" something?
4. Why, after viewing MY resume, would this person think I am qualified for a career as a financial advisor?

I'd appreciate thoughts or perspective. I signed up for the interview cause I thought it might be intersting. I HATE having my time wasted though which is what I fear this is...

The Big Sexy's interest is piqued. For years a company called "Primerica" phoned The Big Sexy despite repeated requests not to. While it is a rather large corporation, it was essentially an Amway of financial services where someone sets up shop then recruits advisors to sell financial products to relatives, etc. Then that person can go out and recruit people to do the same for them, so it kind of ends up being a pyramid thing.

The Big Sexy finds it interesting that this is somehow related to American Express? The Big Sexy will look into this.

It just felt wrong. I hate selling anyway. I'd rather shoot something!
